Ice Climbing – Full Day
Can you imagine yourself climbing the Khumbu Icefall on Mount Everest? Luckily, you don't have to go to Nepal for some excellent ice climbing. The best ice climbing in the world is found in the Canadian Rockies surrounding Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise.
Waterfall ice climbing is an unbelievably exhilarating sport and we invite you to experience it. Hack your way up an icefall with ice axes and dig your crampons into the blue ice.

Vital Details:
This experience is open to adults of all ages and abilities. It is not suitable for young children. People taking this experience must be able to swing an ice axe as well as use crampons. Older children accompanied by a parent or guardian can participate in this experience, provided they can fit safely and comfortably into a harness. All participants must sign the operator’s waiver of liability. No experience is necessary.
The Weather:
This experience is weather dependant. Often temperatures below -20 degrees will cause the experience to be postponed.
Session Length:
Full Day. (5 - 6 hours climbing)
Numbers:
Client to guide ratio is 6 to 1. Maximum group size is 12 people.
Dress Code:
There can be periods of inactivity in very cold temperatures. Don't be afraid to bring too much! We suggest bringing light clothing of varying thicknesses that can be 'layered' to achieve comfort and versatility. Ski wear works well.
Getting There:
This experience is located in the Banff – Canmore area of the Canadian Rockies. Final climbing location will be supplied when booking with Total Experience.
Spectators:
This activity is not suitable for spectators.

Availability:
Ice climbing is typically available from late November through until April. Optimum climbing season is mid-December to mid-March.

Included in this course are the use of boots, crampons, ice tools, harness & helmet.
